Welcome to the Dan Kovacs Jazz Collection. A lifetime dedicated to collecting Jazz.

Dan Emil Kovacs was born in Budapest in 1918, studied Fine Arts at the Budapest Royal Art Academy, and lived through WWII as a War Correspondent for the Allied Forces. He married Dorothee Reuter, a classical dancer from Köln, in Heidelberg, and decided to emigrate to Venezuela in 1948. The family established their home in Caracas, where he was Art Director at the largest Publicity Firms of the era.
Dan had been an avid Jazz fanatic since before the war, and actually brought several records down in his scarce baggage.
From there on he continued his collection, dedicating all his free time to seriously augment the quantity and quality of it until, at the time of his passing, 1982, he had accumulated an exquisite sampling of close to 2,000 pristine Vinyl pressings, brought in from abroad by friends and in trips, which now reside in our (his sibling’s) home in Caracas.
He was also co-founder (along with Jaques Braunstein, rip) of the Caracas Jazz Club.
I am currently seriously archiving all this material in Database, it was done roughly before on a typewriter, but the time has come to share this museum professionally with those who would care for and appreciate it.
All disks are in VG++ to M- condition, all sleeves are too, and storage has been done vertically, no humidity, fungus, or damage, courtesy of our constant tropical dry atmosphere here in Caracas.
May this be an introduction to a very fine and well-kept Jazz collection waiting for a new home.
I am at your orders to send any additional material, photos, etc. for your appraisal.
